GNR Media: doing what the ESIC rules intended
A founder’s own problem, turned into a product, funded through its riskiest years, and now a subscription service with participating businesses in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Where it started
GNR Media began with a founder’s frustration. David Strybosch was taking ipRenewal, one of the Seedchange start-ups, to market. He needed to see exactly what marketing had to be done, what it would cost, who was doing it and whether it was making the business easier to find. Nothing on the market gave him that, so he built it.
The result was a different kind of marketing service: one connected system, run for the business owner, that records the work done and reports the evidence separately — including when the numbers do not move.
What the money was for
GNR Media was listed on the Attivare platform in March 2024 as an Early Stage Innovation Company and raised $15m in a funding round that closed in June 2024. That capital gave the company the runway an early-stage software business needs: time to design the system, build the platform, and test it with real customers before it could pay its own way.
This is the stage the ESIC incentive was designed for. Banks do not lend to a pre-revenue platform, and most companies at this point fail. The incentive shared that risk with the people willing to back the founder.
What GNR Media built
- Marketing Passport® — a guided course that captures what a business offers, who it helps and what makes it different. Every other service works from it.
- Community Search Engine Optimisation (CSEO™) — GNR’s community-led approach to visibility, working alongside conventional search, answer-engine and AI-search optimisation.
- Managed content and publishing — long-form articles, a LinkedIn campaign rhythm, community-aligned stories published through participating businesses’ websites, and cartoon-style video adverts.
- Business tools — customer relationship management, forms, calendars and follow-up, in one platform.
- Evidence-first reporting — a live Network Report Card showing the work completed, and a separate report of what the figures show, with dates and method.
GNR manages the work; business owners supply their knowledge, account access and approvals. GNR calls the approach Community Search Engine Optimisation: clear business information, useful content, relevant community publishing and measurement, run as one service alongside conventional search and AI-discovery practice.
Growing up: 2025
In 2025 GNR Media simplified its capital structure, following changes in the Australian Taxation Office’s interpretation of the ESIC rules. This also opened the company to international and institutional investors at larger investment amounts.
The business grew. That is the point of an early-stage incentive: it helps a company through the years when it is too risky for anyone else, and then the company stands on its own.
GNR Media today
GNR Media trades from gnr.media as a managed subscription service. Its Basic and Pro plans, at A$199 and A$299 a month, bring together business profiling, content creation, campaign publishing, community exposure and reporting, so that owners can keep a clear, consistent online presence while they run their businesses. On 15 October 2026 it published its own video advert to YouTube through its Strategic Ad Services workflow — the product, used on itself.
An international business community
The network now reaches beyond Australia, with documented participation from businesses in the United States and the United Kingdom. Leib Productions, in New York, and Exitologists, in the UK, both publish GNR-produced content and identify their participation in the GNR Media Visibility Network. Members span professional services, consulting, education, technology and creative services.

Measured progress in Google visibility
GNR Media publishes case studies from Google Search Console data, with defined reporting periods and a stated method (The Proof). Its latest comparisons:
| Business | Earlier 90 daysEarlier | Later 90 daysLater | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| ipRenewal | 17,600 | 61,500 | +249% |
| Elise Explains IP | 49 | 2,210 | +4,410% |
| Words in Bloom English | 19 | 296 | +1,458% |
Google search impressions (appearances in search results). Later period 28/07/2026–25/10/2026; earlier period 30/01/2026–29/04/2026 for ipRenewal and Elise Explains IP, and 29/04/2026–27/07/2026 for Words in Bloom English. The two smaller cases started from very low baselines, and ipRenewal shares a founder with GNR Media. These are observed changes in visibility.
The next stage
Development continues on website optimisation, onboarding and reporting, including stronger starting benchmarks and wider measurement across search engines and AI-assisted discovery, being rolled out progressively. The aim stays the same: make consistent marketing manageable for business owners, grow the international community, and let measured evidence guide the service.
“The catalyst for GNR Media getting off the ground was the Attivare business model. I am excited by GNR Media’s marketing platform growth, and that it is now going global.”
